eKYC Overview (And Why Wallet Does Not Need It)
This page explains what eKYC is, why it exists, and when you need it in SafeFi+.
Important:
- You do not need eKYC to create, import, send, or receive with the Wallet module.
- Wallet is a DeFi feature. It is separate from identity verification.

What Is eKYC?
eKYC means electronic Know Your Customer.
It is an identity verification process where you submit personal details and ID photos so the platform can confirm you are a real person.
Why eKYC Is Needed
Platforms use eKYC to:
- Reduce fraud and account abuse
- Meet legal and compliance requirements
- Protect users during regulated financial activities

Do You Need eKYC for Wallet?
No.
For SafeFi+ Wallet:
- You can use Wallet without eKYC
- You can create or import wallets without eKYC
- You can send and receive crypto without eKYC
Wallet is DeFi and wallet usage is not tied to eKYC approval.

When You May Need eKYC
You may need eKYC when using features that require account-level identity checks, such as P2P flows.
If a feature needs eKYC, the app will show a verification requirement message before you continue.
How to Submit eKYC (If You Need It)
- Open the app and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Identity Verification.
- Fill in your details:
- Full Name
- Phone Number
- NRIC / ID Number
- Nationality
- Capture your ID card (front).
- Capture a selfie with your ID card.
- Tap Submit for Verification.
- Wait for review result.

eKYC Status Meaning
- Unverified: You have not submitted eKYC yet.
- In Review: Your documents are being reviewed.
- Verified: Your eKYC is approved.
- Rejected: Your submission was rejected. You can resubmit with clearer/valid documents.

Quick Tips for Faster Approval
- Use clear, bright lighting
- Make sure your ID details are readable
- Use matching personal details (name and ID number)
- Avoid blurry or cropped photos
